Exciting news for 2016…. Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council has been shortlisted for the prestigious award LGC Council of the year 2016.
Barnsley Financial Services has played an integral part of developing ‘a brand new, commercial and customer focused organisation’.
The work that we have undertaken in developing our sector leading customer portal, which streamlines communications via automated reports, alerts and e-forms is an example of the investment we have made. The team successfully attended their first exhibition yesterday, hosted by Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce at the stunning Wentworth Woodhouse – Chamber means Business.
It was great to meet some new faces and catch up with contacts and friends we’ve developed along the way.

Did you know that employer’s contributions towards teachers pensions will increase as of September 2015? HM Treasury (HMT) has released the final directions and the expected outcome of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
The current contribution rate is set at 14.1% for employers. The new Scheme employer contribution rate will increase to 16.4%, (doesn’t include the 0.08%) levy which will be payable as of September 2015.
This rate will then be payable up until April 2019 when this outcome will be evaluated.

To help more people save for their retirement, the government has made major changes to how workplace pensions operate. By 2018 all employers who have more than one employee in the UK will have to automatically enrol their staff into a workplace pension (who meets a certain criteria).

The childcare voucher scheme is changing from Autumn 2015 but parents can still sign up to the existing childcare voucher schemes until August 2015 and then continue to order vouchers for as long as the employer runs the scheme.
The new scheme will allow parents to receive government funding for up to 20% of their childcare costs up to a maximum of £2,000 per child per year. The new scheme will initially only be available in respect of children under 5, but there are plans to make it available for all children under 12 within one year.
